SINGAPORE: Indian actress Vidya Balan and actor Ranbir Kapoor won the awards for A Leading Role at the 13th Jaypee International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, which was organised at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
Ranbir won for his Jordan, a common man who dreams of becoming a Rock Star, in Imtiaz Ali's "Rockstar". Vidya Balan won for her role of Reshma(The Dirty Picture), a young woman who aspires to stardom, only to find tragedy when she finally got what she wants, in Milan Luthria's "The Dirty Picture".
The award for Best Film went to Zoya Akhtar helmed "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" which also won the Best Story award and Best Director for the 39-year-old filmmaker.
Other notable winners include Vidyut Jamwal who won Best Debut (Male), A R Rahman and Nadaan Parinde, who won the award for Best Music Direction, as well as Rekha, who won the IIFA Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema (Female) award.
